Chrome is changing its logo for the first time in eight years

Sometimes a little goes a long way. Genuinely like the update! Big fan of incremental brand updates. Especially an unfussy, clean design like this one.

Let's look and see what has changed from the previous version of Chrome to the 2022 version:

1- Simplicity:

Shapes are now flat and cleaner. They do not have shadows and are not pretending to be 3D anymore.

2- Alignment and Balance:

Look at the horizontal grid lines on the second page to see some basic relationship between the top and bottom of every element of the logo. See how the propeller wings are slightly thinner, and in return, the centre circle is slightly larger, perhaps to be of the same weight as all the other elements. See how they have reduced the number of horizontal lines and used alignment to create harmony and balance.

3- Colours:

Colours are now cleaner (especially that no shadow is cast on them) and are more saturated. They are stronger in making a statement. They are determined. (brand's voice and tone)

We need to remember, users of a product need to see consistency. Extreme change can be very risky, and a type of risk that may not bring any ROI. So if the base idea has merit and the brand has equity, what might be needed is refinement, not drastic changes.
